Arkansas Outdoor Academy (AOA) is looking for passionate, innovative educators who want to help build something meaningful.
As a new public charter school centered on experiential, outdoor, and place-based learning, AOA offers teachers the opportunity to reimagine what school can look like. If you believe learning should be engaging, relevant, and rooted in strong relationships, we’d love to hear from you.
Who We’re Looking For
AOA seeks educators who are:
Student-centered and relationship-driven
Flexible, creative, and open to new approaches
Excited by hands-on, experiential learning
Interested in helping shape a growing school community
We welcome teachers who bring curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to learn alongside their students. As a founding team member, your voice, ideas, and expertise will help define AOA’s culture and instructional approach.
Grades We Serve
Arkansas Outdoor Academy launches with grades 6–9 and will continue to grow, expanding through grade 12 by 2030. This phased growth allows teachers to be part of a thoughtful, intentional school model from the ground up.
What Teaching Looks Like at AOA
Teaching at AOA blends strong academic instruction with outdoor and place-based learning experiences. Lessons may happen indoors or outdoors and emphasize:
Real-world application of academic standards
Collaboration and problem-solving
Student engagement through exploration and inquiry
Our goal is to create learning experiences that feel purposeful, challenging, and connected to the world beyond the classroom.
